I Need Peace

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

-John 14:27

"And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?"

-Mark 4:39-40

You may not realize that there's a difference between "things going our way" and lasting, abiding inner peace.

When things go our way, we may feel a sense of contentment, accomplishment, and achievement, such as with a new job, home, or relationship. However, these feelings only last for a time or a "season" -- they are temporary feelings based on circumstances that are subject to change. You can never base your security on or depend upon things running smoothly forever. Inevitably, we will all face difficulties in life and seek answers, solutions, and peace.

The peace that Jesus Christ gives is unlike anything in this world -- it's lasting, enduring, eternal. He is able to comfort, strengthen, sustain, bring joy, and grant you lasting peace, through all seasons of life, and especially in the midst of the most turbulent storms.

The person who trusts the Lord and keeps his focus on Him and not the storm, will abide in perfect peace.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusted in thee."

-Isaiah 26:3
