Baptism
The Greek word for baptized, baptizo, means to submerge, to wash oneself, to immerse fully. Jesus instructs us to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost:
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost..." -Matthew 28:19
Those of us who have obeyed this have enjoined ourselves to Christ and have undergone a "full immersion" baptism in the water, where we identify with Christ in death, burial, and resurrection, and walk in newness of life:
"Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." -Romans 6:4
"Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, Who hath raised Him from the dead." -Colossians 2:12
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." -Acts 2:38
Who should be baptized?
(1) Anyone who has turned to Jesus Christ in repentance, and has received Him as their Savior.
(2) Anyone who has made the decision to obey Christ, and walk in newness of life with Him.
Who should baptize you?
Any person who has also turned to Christ in repentance, and has received Jesus Christ as their Savior, also been born again in the Spirit (John 3:3) and fully-immersed baptized.
Father,
We have enjoined ourselves to Christ by repenting of our sins and being "fully immersed" in water. Through our baptism, in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we identify with Jesus Christ in death, burial, resurrection, and walk in newness of life! Thank You, Lord! Amen!
